Really sorry that this community has been real slow, been trying out new things in knitting and crochet, and actually moved across the country. Found out that my knitting procedure was called "backwards knitting" which helps. Consulting the excellent knit and purl videos on youtube for appropriate and *correct* ways to do the knit and purl stitch.

I'm having issues with granny squares, but I don't necessarily believe that to be an issue with being lefthanded.

How is everyone doing? Having fun with projects and such?

its a big pain in the butt when your only knitting confidante is right handed and thinks that you purl when you are doing the knit stitch.

no purl help for me. since i begin my slipstitches for knitting on my left needle and transfer them over to my right, i have to purl from right to left, for the very first purl row. what a big pain in the arse.

its like im contorting my hands or trying to get my fingers to listen to my brain when they aren't as co-ordinated as the left hand.....

grrrrrrrrr!

Just to get the community moving again, what is everyone currently working on?

I am currently crocheting a hat, part of a freecrochet blanket, and knitting a scarf.

Sounds like a lot but I like the variety.

As soon as I get pictures of all my works-in-progress I will scan them in and give the links.

I just found your community. I have to say I am not at all left-handed. In fact I am seriously right-handed. Why did I join the community? I was taught to knit left-handed but I crochet right-handed. I wanted to share this link from the crochet guild for crocheting left or right-handed. I might be a community anomaly. I hope you don't mind that I joined.

Is there a serious problem following a crochet or knitting patterns, if you are left-handed? I've followed basic knitting patterns and I have never noticed a problem. I am a much more prolific crocheter.
