its a big pain in the butt when your only knitting confidante is right handed and thinks that you purl when you are doing the knit stitch.

no purl help for me. since i begin my slipstitches for knitting on my left needle and transfer them over to my right, i have to purl from right to left, for the very first purl row. what a big pain in the arse.

its like im contorting my hands or trying to get my fingers to listen to my brain when they aren't as co-ordinated as the left hand.....

Have you tried mirroring your teacher?

Perhaps you should use on-line tutorials, which show you how to knit properly for a left-handed/continental knitter.

This is a freaking great site! I've used it for washing raw wool.

MY knitting stinks, and I've had a devil of a time doing it, but I really didn't have much trouble with purling...I picked it up recently again after a 15 year "break" (is it a break when you never really knew how to start with??) and once I remembered how to cast on, I was able to do basic stitches easily...

Don't ask me how though. I don't understand what my hands are doing!
